Sir Timothy Besley’s view

In 2004, Tim Besley of LSE had an article published in The Economic Journal, a presitigious journal published by OUP on behalf of Royal Economics Society, as it has been since it was first published in 1891. The article was titled ‘The new political economy.’ In the journal, its title was capitalised (as shown). Elsewhere it is available as ‘The New Political Economy.’

Besley is a highly respected and honoured economist who deserves to be listened to. He is now the School Professor of Economics and Political Science and Sir W. Arthur Lewis Professor of Development Economics at the London School of Economics, received a kighthood (KB) in
